Here’s a hint….it’s pink.  Ok, ok, just kidding.  Do you remember that I mentioned that I was going to spray paint the handles that came with the dresser.  Well as you can see, I tried it.  Still don’t really love them.  Last week, I was in Anthropologie and picked up one of their ceramic pulls in pink…the only had 2, and the other one was a little chipped.  I thought if it fit the dresser I could order the rest online.  LOVE how it looks with the dresser.  Very sweet and girly.

I was so excited.  I went to my computer to place the order and guess what friends…..they’re SOLD OUT!!!!  WHY????

So now I come to you.  I spent some time on Amazon and Ebay with no luck.  Do you have any suggestions as to where I can find something similar to this?  I appreciate any and all suggestions!!!  Thanks friends.

Part of the design plan was to add some architectural interest to the interior of their house.  The exterior of her home has a low-country feel with a front porch and rockers, so I wanted to continue that traditional low-country feel right as you walk in the door.  I proposed adding planking to the foyer and over the weekend it was installed!  Adding architectural interest definitely gives you the most bang for your design buck.  If you’re ever unsure of where to put your money when starting a project, start with trim work.  It will instantly change the way your space feels.

It has not been painted yet….that is just the back side of the boards.  Here is the link to the post that I did on my inexpensive planking alternative.  Still to come is paint, lighting and a new rug.  Which of course, I can’t wait to share with you guys.

Her breakfast nook and kitchen are also getting some love.  We added tongue and groove planking 2/3rd’s of the way up the wall and around the island.  Here is another in progress shot……plus her 2 cute girls!

The painters are coming this week.  I can’t wait to share the before and after pictures with you as we have lots of things in store!

It would be easy to find a set of these chairs on Craigslist or at an antique store for next to nothing.    Because of the style of my client’s chairs, I am probably going to go with a skirted option similar to this.  I like the button detail.

By now, many of us have probably seen this house either on Pinterest or over at Cote de Texas when Joni first posted this house a couple of weeks ago.  This house was designed by homeowner and designer, Angie Gren.

Half the fun of reading blog posts is also reading the comments, right?   Most of the comments that were left were very gracious and complimentary, and many people said that this home is magazine worthy, which I would completely have to agree with…in my humble opinion.

However, one anonymous commenter  did not feel it is “magazine worthy status” and said that it “needs more interest other than white sofas everywhere”.

She also felt that it did not belong in a magazine because there is too much clutter on the counters.  Huh?   Doesn’t she know that magazines have stylists?  Most of what the commenter did not like about this house, I loved!

All of these comments got me thinking.  This is the type of home I would love to see in a magazine.  You know the kind of home when you study the pictures over and over, which I kind of already done in this case.  I would love to hear your thoughts.  Are you feeling inspired by “magazine worthy” homes lately?

My friend Joanne and I enjoyed champagne as we toured the store.  It was such a fun way to spend Valentine’s Day!

 In this room, she used turquoise and aqua accents against the lavender walls….so pretty.

I know it is hard to tell by the picture, but this room is so bright and beautiful with the white paneled walls.

As you can see, their media cabinet and TV are dwarfed by the size of the large niche and the bookcases don’t quite fit the side niches.  So in came the carpenters.

  All of the cabinets were built on site.

My client opted for a medium stain and we chose something that complimented the warm, golden tan wall color that we selected.

The result is warm and rustic.

I recently visited my sister in Tampa and while I was there we were working on her foyer.  She has a long foyer that previously had 2 outdated semi-flushmounts that came with the house.  We envisioned 2 of the Hundi Lanterns from Pottery Barn  for her foyer, however, at $299 a piece that was going to add up quickly.

  My sister started looking at Overstock.com and came across this light for $151.99.  That’s 2 for the price of 1!!

Here are a couple of pictures of her foyer with her new lights!!!  Sorry the pictures are kind of blurry….phone pictures, but you can sort of get the idea.

What a difference updated lighting makes!!  We are still waiting on the rug and a few more finishing touches.  I’ll be sure to show better pictures once we have it all together.

Over at Home Depot they have made some major improvements in the lighting department.  Now if only they would work on their rug department….they should at least carry seagrass rugs!  But that’s a post for another day.  Here are just a few of the stylish pendant lights that they are now carrying.

Let’s take a look at some real estate…..I may have gone on picture overload.  I love the french doors with transoms and the interior doors and windows that have been trimmed.  Such a simple detail that adds so much character.

With each Room Service design, I create a design board and product guide outlining all of the products in the plan.  I also provide my clients with samples of any fabrics, tile, flooring, etc. so that they have the opportunity to see them first hand while I am presenting to them.  I have found that the more materials I can show them, the easier it is for them to visualize the overall design.

 Can’t wait to share the after pictures of this project with you!

In other “news”, I’ve been at it again, you know, hitting up the local antique stores.  Since I can’t buy everything I want, I just take pictures so I can share them with you.  But one of these little treasures did make it home with me.  Can you guess which one?

This church pew immediately got me thinking about one of our Cottage Living favorites…

and it is only $250!  That is a bargain for a solid, oak bench.

Aren’t these bikes cute?  Are there any stylists out there that need these?!?!

This is a collection of official Navy dishes.  I think these are so cute.  They were a little pricey.

The same dealer also has a collection of brass light fixtures from old ships.  These babies are heavy!  They were not cheap either.

 I really wanted this secretary but I have no where to put it.  Now you can eliminate this one (if you’re playing along).

Love this bench…needs to be painted or stained though.

 This old market basket reminded me of the one Joni gave away last year.  It also made me think about the basket that the Polished Pebble used in her old house to store her collection of cutting boards.  Love that idea.

Love this collection of old tennis rackets.  We used to have some of these when I was a kid.  Wouldn’t these look great hanging on a wall in a boy’s room?

 This bench needs a makeover but if you can get past the 1970′s gold velvet (unless you like that!  sorry!) and look at the shape and the caning, it would look great in a hallway or bedroom.
