I’m so excited to present this design plan to my client today.  It’s been in the works for quite a while.  Thought I would give you all a peek at my Room Service.

With each Room Service design, I create a design board and product guide outlining all of the products in the plan.  I also provide my clients with samples of any fabrics, tile, flooring, etc. so that they have the opportunity to see them first hand while I am presenting to them.  I have found that the more materials I can show them, the easier it is for them to visualize the overall design.

Can’t wait to share the after pictures of this project with you!

Boy, the pressure is on to show you my newest treasure…..you guys are good motivation!

Have a great weekend.

Well, I did it.  My partner in crime, Maria,  joined me in stalking “the” house and we laughed the whole way through.  You see a funny thing happened.  The house is in a gated section of the neighborhood.  I have a friend that lives in Palencia, and I texted her and asked her to call the gate so that we could drive around and look for the house.  I had not heard back from my friend by the time we were ready to “cruise” the neighborhood.  So as we approached the gate,  I asked Maria “what should I tell the guard?”  Should I tell him I am going to my friend’s house and hope that she is home when he calls to verify my arrival?  Or should I be honest and tell him that I just wanted to drive around and look for a house?  As I approached the guard house, Whopper in hand, fries in my lap, I looked at Maria and told her I was just going to be honest with the guy.  I pushed the power window button, down went the window, and before I could say anything, the guard said “Are you going to the baby shower?  They called and said you would be coming”  A brief moment of panic set in and before I had a chance to think,  I quickly replied, “yes”.  We were in!  I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.

We walked around the house and peeked in all of the windows of course.  It really is a beautiful home.

After our little adventure it was time to set up for the street festival.

Maria made ‘The Cottage Mix’ banner and the other ones you see in the pictures.  Cute, right?

Sorry, Maria.  This is the only picture I have of us.

It was a great day.  Thanks to my friends and family who came out to see us.  I love you all!

My side-kick in the picture has a really big day today…she is turning 40 and I will be right behind her.  We have gone through so many experiences together, high school, marriage, babies and now we are entering the dark side together.  Can’t wait to see what’s in store.  Happy Birthday, Maria!!!!

I have been told that my grammer grammar needs some improving.  I’ve never claimed to be a writer, nor do I aspire to be one.  This is just a light-hearted  little blog and not a course in creative writing.  Thanks for going to bat for me Karen and Colleen!!

If there are any pillows in these pictures that interest you, please send me an email…chances are they are still available.

Whenever I come across a new blog, I am always interested in the back story behind the blog’s title.  Do you think about that, too?  So with this being my first blog post, I thought I would share with you as to how I came up with ‘the cottage mix’.  I started my design business in 2008 and at the time my favorite design magazine was (and still is) Cottage Living.

Each month Cottage Living  delivered realistic design ideas but with a fresh, updated twist.  The homes they featured were modest in size, light and bright, and had loads of character.  Homes that you could see yourself living in, and wanting to live in.  I loved it all.   The perfect mix.

So when it was time for me to come up with a name for my business,  “the cottage mix”  summed up my design style perfectly.  That name served me well over the past couple of years, but I found that as my business started growing people knew me by just my name.  I’ve recently redesigned my website and business cards to reflect my new business name, Lauren Leonard Interiors .  As with my old issues of Cottage Living, I just couldn’t part with “the cottage mix’.  So here it is… I hope you enjoy.

If you have a love for cottage design too, then I think we are going to become good friends.
