It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Sensible Chic room.  I love doing these because it is fun to show that a great looking room does not have to cost a lot of money.

This go around, I chose this beautiful living room by one of my favorite designers, Tammy Connor.

It’s light and airy and easy on the eyes.  I don’t think I could get tired of being in this room.

This is what I came up with………

The standout piece in the inspiration room is the rug….I found this rug from Dash and Albert (9×12 $414)

It is tone on tone like the one in the inspiration room and it’s a casual cotton rug in keeping with the feel of this space.  For the sofa and chair, I turned to good old tried and true Ikea.  The lantern is from Ballards and is a great price..$329. I love it!

Here are a few more pieces to complete the room.

The surveyor’s floor lamp is from, get this, JCPenny..yup…$180 dollars.

For the armoire, I decided to check my local Craigslist to see what these things are going for these days.  I found this one, it’s solid wood and b.i.g. for only $200.

Of course it needs a coat of creamy paint to give it the look we are after, but still a bargain.

For the desk behind the sofa, I found this desk from Overstock for $160.99.  It is traditional looking and dark like the one in the inspiration room.

For the two wicker chairs that go with the desk, I once again turned to the budget friendly Ikea, and you can’t beat the price…$79 each.

The drapes in the inspiration room are sheer and have a subtle pattern to them.  I came up with these light-weight linen panels from World Market for $24.50 per panel.

And for the coffee table, I found this coffee table with similar lines as the one in the inspiration room for $249.

OK, so here is the fun part, the total cost for the living room is………….$2693.

In many cases, that is the cost for just one sofa!

Have a good one, friends!

Hello friends.  Is it ok if I call you that? Thank you for all of your sweet comments and emails from Friday’s feature.   I feel like I have made new friends overnight.

A couple of months ago, I purchased 2 of these from a local antique store.  The mate is not pictured, but they look the same.  They were listed as “grain bin spouts” on the ticket and were $30 each.  Have you ever found something at an antique store and clutched it with all of you might?  Have you ever felt like you have just won the lottery?  That’s how I felt when I spotted these.  I raced up to the checkout counter to make my purchase.  The ladies at the counter asked me what I was going to do with these.  I sheepishly responded, “um, I don’t know”.  I was afraid if she knew the deal that I just scored she would change her mind and not sell them to me.  I realize how crazy I must sound.  My husband and kids thought I had lost my mind when they saw these sitting in the garage.

You see when I saw them, I immediately thought of this from South of Market.  It is the zinc bucket light and is $1550.

I have just the place for them.   I called Bob, my electrician.  I showed him the bin spouts and my inspiration picture and asked him what he thought.  What I love most about Bob is that he comes from a place of yes.  So off he went with my bin spouts in hand to create my lights.  Bob is coming over today to take some measurements before installation.  I hope to have them up this week.  You’ll be the first to see.

In other Monday happenings, this little girl is starting Pre-K.  She is so excited!

I know what you’re probably thinking.  I promise I am not getting paid by World Market for these posts.  I just can’t help to pass along good deals on great style when I see them.  My friend Joanne, purchased this chair from World Market.  How cute is this chair?  (sorry the picture is so dark)

It is the Cute-as-a Button Erin chair and it is on sale for $229, from where else?  World Market.

Great detail, love the buttons in different fabrics.

It looks an awful lot like the Lunet Chair from Anthropologie, huh?  Same tufting and the piping is done in a contrasting print fabric.

Another great Antropologie inspired chair from World Market, is the Erin chair at $229.

Very similar to the $1698.00 Astrid chair (I know, these names?) from Anthro.

Love how World Market is paying attention to the trends these days and recreating their own versions at much lower prices.  Ok, that does sound like I am getting paid by them…..maybe they do need to put me on their payroll.
