Wishing all of you sweet moms a relaxing and peaceful Mother’s Day.

I am so proud and thankful to be the mom of these three.  They make me quite happy.

All the best.

Here is how we spent the past Friday night……

Yes, in the ER.  Carson broke his wrist while playing around with his friends.  Tomorrow, I take him in to have his cast put on.  Poor guy, the timing is not good.  He was is in the middle of his baseball season and he has been working out with a personal trainer for the past couple of weeks getting ready for his middle school football tryouts next week.  But on the flip side, he’s learned to text with one thumb.  All in all he’s taking it pretty well.  I think he likes me putting his socks on for him.  See Momma’s……. your babies don’t grow up after all :)

I’m currently working on several bathroom remodels and thought I’d share some of the pretty tiles and toilets I’ve been looking at….

Ferguson has a fantastic selection of bathroom fixtures at many price points.

All of these were found at Traditions in Tile……

I would love to use this light blue tile on a bathroom wall….mmm.  pretty.

Can you imagine this in a beach house?!?!

It’s hard to tell that is tile and not wood.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Hi there!  Hope you had a nice weekend.  On Saturday, after 1 soccer game and 2 baseball games, I was able to get away with my friend, Maria for a little shopping and dinner excursion.  It was soooo nice, and of course, full of laughs.

We ventured down to St. Augustine. and if you are ever traveling through North Florida, it’s definitely worth a visit.  It is the oldest city in America and it’s a beautiful, quaint town on the water that is filled with lots of cottages and Spanish architecture.  We went there with the intention of checking out an antique store that Maria had recently visited, Booma, that is located in a small building which has an adjoining courtyard that it shares with 2 other stores….and, for lack of a better word, is adorable.

This turtle shell is huge!  Unfortunately, it’s not for sale.  The owner said he is waiting for it’s “papers” before he can legally sell it.  Hmmmm.  I’d like to know the story behind that.

This beautiful chest is only $450.  What pretty detailing.

Love the pink little suitcases and chippy pink stool….and the brass “mail box” envelope on the wall.   This is a really cute party/event planning store with stationary, gifts and accessories.  The type of store that makes you want to throw a party.

Aren’t these doors gorgeous?  And the perfect shade of gray.

Houzz.com ran a post on block printed textiles and included my foyer in their feature.  So excited to see my foyer included with rooms that had been featured in House Beautiful and designed by some of the best designers in the business.  Thank you, Houzz!

Lastly, I failed to include my sister’s birthday in my Friday’s post….I know, bad sister.  Here she is with my nephew John.  Isn’t he a cutie?!?  He’s a sweet boy.  My sister was in town recently and at every place we went into at least one person asked us if we’re twins….we don’t see it, but we think it’s funny.  We are only 18 months apart.

Happy Birthday, Colleen!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Can’t wait to see you again!!

Hello friends.  I tried to get this post up yesterday but my wordpress wasn’t cooperating.  Speaking of wordpress, those of you that have a wordpress blog, do you know how to get the comments emailed to you?  When I first started this blog, each comment would go to my email and for whatever reason, a couple of months ago that stopped happening.  If you leave me a comment, I always try to respond in the comments section below your comment.  I hope to get this figured out so that I can personally email you back.  Even my “blog guy” is stumped.  Just thought I would throw it out there to see if you have any suggestions.  Thanks!

Over the Christmas break…which seems like yesterday ( how can it be April?)  I started working on organizing my office studio space which is upstairs in our bonus room.  I started off by organizing my filing cabinets and quickly realized I needed more storage space for files, but wasn’t ready to plop down $230 for another Ballard’s filing cabinet.  Soon after, I came across this basket from HomeGoods for $29.99.

I knew it was too good of a deal to pass up and figured I would be able to use it somewhere in my office.  A couple of days later I was in Office Max and found these hanging file frames that you can customize for $11.00.

and they fit into my new basket!!  Here is my $41 “filing cabinet”.

As I mentioned, I have been working on this space since Christmas and hope to share it with you in the next couple of weeks.

Last Monday, I received an email from Tracery that I had won their book giveaway….my book arrived on Friday.  Yay!

I started collecting design books a couple of years ago as souvenirs from places that I’ve visited.  I write the date and the city where the book was purchased inside the book cover.  For me, I am more apt to spend $50 on a design book when I am on vacation rather than just walking into the bookstore and buying one.  You know how that vacation mentality gets to you?!?

This past weekend, out neighborhood clubhouse hosted an Easter brunch with none other than the Easter Bunny.

As you can imagine, my older two were thrilled to have to go along with this charade.  Everything was going well until the Easter Bunny asked me what time it is right in front of my daughter.  What?  The Easter Bunny doesn’t talk???  I guess he was counting down the minutes until he could get out of his suit.

They are happy to be off this week for Spring Break.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

You may remember when I posted about presenting this to my client recently….

Part of the design plan was to add some architectural interest to the interior of their house.  The exterior of her home has a low-country feel with a front porch and rockers, so I wanted to continue that traditional low-country feel right as you walk in the door.  I proposed adding planking to the foyer and over the weekend it was installed!  Adding architectural interest definitely gives you the most bang for your design buck.  If you’re ever unsure of where to put your money when starting a project, start with trim work.  It will instantly change the way your space feels.

My client sent me these pictures yesterday.

It has not been painted yet….that is just the back side of the boards.  Here is the link to the post that I did on my inexpensive planking alternative.  Still to come is paint, lighting and a new rug.  Which of course, I can’t wait to share with you guys.

Her breakfast nook and kitchen are also getting some love.  We added tongue and groove planking 2/3rd’s of the way up the wall and around the island.  Here is another in progress shot……plus her 2 cute girls!

The painters are coming this week.  I can’t wait to share the before and after pictures with you as we have lots of things in store!

And on a different note…….

this little guy turns 10 today!!!!

This is one sweet boy…….and a tough one.

He loves football and always gives 110%

and I am so proud to be his mom.

Happy Birthday Parker!!!!  I love you.

This little lady turns 5 today.

It’s really hard to believe that 5 years have gone by so quickly.  I’ll be honest, I don’t want her to to grow anymore.  She is the baby in our family and I think she’ll always be treated as such.  Her easy going and sweet personality has her Dad wrapped around her finger.  It’s pretty safe to say that she is the princess in this house……and that suits me just fine.

She has two of the most patient and loving big brothers a girl could ask for.

As I was setting up for the party, waiting for Ellie and her friends to arrive, I was listening to Taylor Swift and the song Fifteen came on.  My eyes filled with tears just listening to the words…one day it’s tea parties and before you know it they are having their first crush.  Why is it so hard to watch your children grow up?

We had a “Fancy Nancy” birthday party on Saturday with her dearest, little friends.  Fancy Nancy is a storybook character who likes everything fancy…boas, tea parties and ice-cream parfaits (that’s fancy for ice-cream sundaes).

Ellie and her friends walked the catwalk.

We spent a lot of time practicing how to put our pinkies up when we drink from a tea cup.

Happy Birthday sweet girl.

I’ve already eaten my share of milk duds and jujy fruits and now I’m drinking a mid-day cup of coffee.  Do you think there’s a connection?   For homework last night, my son Parker, had to count how many pieces of candy he got…he was upset that he only had 161 pieces…last year he collected 280.  Well, what has this world come to?

My husband reminded me this morning that there will be Christmas music playing in the stores from here on out.  Oh, please….not yet!  What about Thanksgiving?  That’s my favorite holiday.  We usually host our families at our house every year.  This house featured in the November issue of Better Homes and Gardens makes me want to decorate my house with gourds and bake a pumpkin pie.

Aren’t those floors beautiful. …I love a center hall table, don’t you?

This is such a pretty dining room.  I love how the homeowner used two upholstered benches.

This home is located in Beaufort, South Carolina in the Habersham community.  On the way home from my recent trip to Charleston, we attempted to venture into Beaufort but turned around for fear that we would be lost for hours.  The Habersham website is worth taking a look at.

So how many days til Christmas….anyone counting?
