Since I came across these napkins that I turned into pillows for my entry bench,

I started looking at other napkins that would make pretty and inexpensive pillows or even wall art…. framed in these Ribba frames ($19.99) from Ikea.

The frames are 20×20″ which is the standard size of a napkin, or for a more custom look, use the wide mat that comes with it and your framed piece will be 12×12″.

Here are some that caught my eye that I thought would look great framed or turned into fun accent pillows.

Love these cheery prints from Anthropologie

These would be adorable framed in a little girls’ room.

Oh, the possibilities!!  Which would you do…frame them or sew them into pillows?

Hello there.  How was your weekend?

For the past couple of months I have been training for a 15K run that includes 2 bridges….one affectionately known as the “green monster”.  It’s big and scary and at the end of the 9.3 mile race.   Well the race was on Saturday and I’m happy to say that I conquered the beast!  All of the training paid off.  I ran with my mom a.k.a. running partner and my niece, who is home from college on spring break.  We had a blast!

Those are big smiles of gratitude that it was over!

After I rested my legs,  I tackled one of the projects on my never-ending list.  Please tell me you have a project list, as well.

This project started with these………..

A set of 4 pictures from the antique store.  They were $10 each.  I liked the colors in the prints but the 1960′s frames had to go.  But before I tossed them, I painted them, white-washed them, even spray painted them.  No luck.  Didn’t like how any of those attempts turned out.

I purchased 4 of these frames on sale at Pottery Barn.  I was not looking forward to hanging these frames because each frame has 2 hooks on the back…which means you have to be very precise with your measurements.  Precision and measuring, neither of which are my strong suit.  So this time around, I thought I would try something new….I cut out 4 “frames” from old wrapping paper, which happened to have the one inch square cutting lines…yes!  That really helped when it was time to measure and mark where the nails needed to go.

One down, three more to go.

And here is the finished project….

You can see Barbie’s dream house in the picture.  She moved in at Christmas time and has no plans on leaving anytime soon.

It’s the start of another busy week.  Hope yours is a good one!

On one of my recent stops into a local antique store, I came across some adorable vintage flash cards…originals, not reproductions.  I don’t have a place for them but they were just too cute and too unique to pass up.   So I snatched them up with plans to list them on etsy.  But before I do that, I thought I would show them to you in case you may be interested in them for your child’s room or playroom.  There are a total of 15 of them and each one is 2 sided with different pictures on each side.  They are made of heavy cardboard and are big….each one is 24″ x 20″ .  They are $20 each (plus shipping).

I think these would look adorable with grommets in the upper corners and hung by jute string or ribbon, or even framed in skinny black frames.  Need some inspiration ideas?  These flashcards would look great in any of these rooms.  Here are a few rooms that I found on Pinterest.

If you are interested, please email me with the flashcard number(s) to LL@LaurenLeonardInteriors.com.

One of the projects on my “project list” for the new year is creating a gallery wall for our staircase.  I’ve been pinning pictures of gallery walls to get some ideas.  One of the things that I have been looking for in the pictures are how the frames are mixed and whether they combined black and white photos with color photos.  This is what I found.

All black frames…………..It looks like they mainly used color photos.

…all white frames.  Combination of photos and artwork.

a mix of black and white frames…………….

(I really like the mix of pictures, artwork and objects in this gallery)

black, white and silver frames with all black and white photos.

…..and black, brown and gold frames (with black and white photos).

I also came across this fool-proof guide for a staircase gallery.  I think I can do this!

Do you have a favorite?

I loved reading your comments on the love it or leave it post.  I had to agree with most of you, I like the Belgian-style but in small doses and I do miss the old Restoration…I mean, I don’t get this…

or this

(this looks like some torture contraption?!?)

I can’t leave you with those images in your head so here’s a couple of pretty ones for the start of your weekend.

Also, for your viewing pleasure, I just discovered that one of our favorite editors from Cottage Living, Anne Turner Carroll, has a website.   Am I late to the party?!?!

Have a good one.

A few random things for you on this Wednesday.

I came across another display idea from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.  These vintage inspired cards are displayed with curtain rings with clips.  If you look closely, you can see that they just hang on a small nail.  Love this idea.

I found these hooks online at Target…if you can see them!  I’ve purchased some in- store for around $5.99 for 7 rings.

Last week Pink Wallpaper featured this adorable paper company.  Their calendars are so pretty.  This calendar comes with twine for hanging.  Each card measures 6″x9″.

This calendar would be so pretty framed and hung in a grouping.

They have adorable art prints for kids, too.

On Friday, my pantry was featured on Barn Light Electric’s blog.  Thank you, Ashley for the nice write-up!  Have you entered their giveaway yet?  You have another week friends!!

Do you have any blank walls staring you down?  I do.  I came across this image the other day on Tracery’s blog, and it is such an inexpensive way to hang prints and fill up blank wall space.  The designers purchased these botanical prints from an antique store and hung them with simple metal clips.

They used clips similar to this to hang the prints.  12 clips for $9.99

Vintage Printable is a great source for vintage prints that you can download for free.  My friend recently uploaded some prints onto a disc and took them to Office Max to be printed on their high quality printer.  For around $1.50 each, she was really pleased with the quality and how they turned out.  Here are a few of the prints you can find on Vintage Printable.

In my daughter’s room, I used jute string and nail head tacks to hang picture cards.

The cards are from Land of Nod.

I think these types of arrangements would also look great with black and white photos in a family room or down a hallway.  Also you could use children’s artwork or children’s books to spruce up a kid’s space.  I could go on and on, the possibilities are endless…and inexpensive.  Happy Friday!
