Do you remember this adorable Grayton Beach cottage from Cottage Living?
One of my favorites.
The other day I received a call from the homeowner’s sister-in-law who is also realtor. She came across my blog post and contacted me to tell me that the home is for sale. She sent me the link and pictures.
Now there is even more to love about this house….take a look and you’ll see what I mean.
Please contact Stacey if you would like more information on this beautiful cottage. I’m sure this house will be well-loved by the new owners.
The Habersham community is located just outside of Charleston in the city of Beaufort, SC. This community couldn’t look any more picture perfect and the houses…..cottage details everywhere you look. You may need your Monday morning cup of coffee for this one. I must caution you, though, this may seriously have you longing for a weekend getaway. I know I sure am!
Let’s take a look at some real estate…..I may have gone on picture overload. I love the french doors with transoms and the interior doors and windows that have been trimmed. Such a simple detail that adds so much character.
I’m mean, really? This is adorable.
Could these cottages be any cuter? They also have big cottages.
Did I lose you? Are you still there?
If you would like to see more, check out the Habersham website.
Have a great day.
This low-country cottage was originally featured in Coastal Living, December 2007, as part of a special advertising section ‘Holiday Coastal Cottage’, in partnership with Kohler. This home is located in the cottage community, Palmetto Bluff, in South Carolina. I found the pictures that were in the magazine which showed the house dressed up for Christmas, however, I could not pull the pictures from the site. Did I ever tell you I am not very ‘tech savvy’? But if you follow this link, it will pull up the article from Coastal Living and show you how the house looks ready for the holidays.
This house looks a lot like the cottage from my ‘house stalking’ days.
Sorry for the small pictures and the “Kohler” border on some of the pictures. I’m not sure why it’s in some pictures and not the others???
I like the gray upper cabinets mixed with the cream cabinets…..and the tile on the wall. I love the idea of a table lamp on the counter.
Very simple base cabinets.
Those lanterns are beautiful. The built in hutch is painted a shade lighter than the cabinets in the kitchen. The table is painted the same color as the cabinets and is 12 feet long!!
I like the open floor plan of this house and the natural light that comes in from all angles.
Since this house was built as a “green house”, the designer chose classic fabrics over trendy ones so that the furniture will stand the test of time versus the homeowner growing tired of the fabrics and discarding the furniture.
This is the view from the porch looking into the sitting area in the master bedroom.
Master bathroom
This is one of the guest rooms. I really like the idea of the upholstered headboard wall, especially for a kid’s room. If you found the right inexpensive fabric, this would be an easy and inexpensive DIY project, do you think?
On both sides of the fireplace are twin-size day beds. What a great use of space.
This screened porch makes me happy!
…..these images from the cottage community Palmetto Bluff also make me happy……
Hope your Monday is happy.

Love this cozy, welcoming entry. Lots of great details packed into this little space.
The temperature dropped and cooler weather is here for the weekend. I’m pretty sure we’ll have a fire tonight. My husband loves to build a fire. A guy thing, perhaps. Yesterday, my daughter and I made some pumpkin bread….it’s almost gone. Hope it’s feeling like Fall where you are. Have a great weekend friends.
My friend, Joann, recently remodeled her 1980′s kitchen and she let me tag along with her during the adventure. She had a good idea of what she wanted in her new kitchen and did a great job with the design details. It turned out beau-t-ful!
The old kitchen was closed off from the family room and had a drop down ceiling with fluorescent lights. They decided to open up the wall by the sink and created a breakfast bar which opens into the family room. By opening up the wall, the kitchen feels like it doubled in size. They also replaced all of the flooring with gorgeous, dark, hardwood floors throughout the main living areas of the house.
Look at that poor cabinet door just hanging in there.
The dreaded drop down ceiling.
And here it is today. Lovely. The old pantry was removed and a built-in pantry was added. She chose black honed granite for the counter tops and marble for the island. So pretty.
Those are plastic Halloween spiders in her light fixture.
I love the new farmhouse sink and faucet…and the latches on the cabinets.
They also updated their built-in bookcases in the family room and refaced the fireplace with new bricks and mantle. But that is a nightmare story for another day.
I know it was a royal pain to go through, but the end result is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing Joann!
I’ve already eaten my share of milk duds and jujy fruits and now I’m drinking a mid-day cup of coffee. Do you think there’s a connection? For homework last night, my son Parker, had to count how many pieces of candy he got…he was upset that he only had 161 pieces…last year he collected 280. Well, what has this world come to?
My husband reminded me this morning that there will be Christmas music playing in the stores from here on out. Oh, please….not yet! What about Thanksgiving? That’s my favorite holiday. We usually host our families at our house every year. This house featured in the November issue of Better Homes and Gardens makes me want to decorate my house with gourds and bake a pumpkin pie.
Aren’t those floors beautiful. …I love a center hall table, don’t you?
This is such a pretty dining room. I love how the homeowner used two upholstered benches.
This home is located in Beaufort, South Carolina in the Habersham community. On the way home from my recent trip to Charleston, we attempted to venture into Beaufort but turned around for fear that we would be lost for hours. The Habersham website is worth taking a look at.
So how many days til Christmas….anyone counting?
Well, I did it. My partner in crime, Maria, joined me in stalking “the” house and we laughed the whole way through. You see a funny thing happened. The house is in a gated section of the neighborhood. I have a friend that lives in Palencia, and I texted her and asked her to call the gate so that we could drive around and look for the house. I had not heard back from my friend by the time we were ready to “cruise” the neighborhood. So as we approached the gate, I asked Maria “what should I tell the guard?” Should I tell him I am going to my friend’s house and hope that she is home when he calls to verify my arrival? Or should I be honest and tell him that I just wanted to drive around and look for a house? As I approached the guard house, Whopper in hand, fries in my lap, I looked at Maria and told her I was just going to be honest with the guy. I pushed the power window button, down went the window, and before I could say anything, the guard said “Are you going to the baby shower? They called and said you would be coming” A brief moment of panic set in and before I had a chance to think, I quickly replied, “yes”. We were in! I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.
We walked around the house and peeked in all of the windows of course. It really is a beautiful home.
After our little adventure it was time to set up for the street festival.
Maria made ‘The Cottage Mix’ banner and the other ones you see in the pictures. Cute, right?
Sorry, Maria. This is the only picture I have of us.
It was a great day. Thanks to my friends and family who came out to see us. I love you all!
My side-kick in the picture has a really big day today…she is turning 40 and I will be right behind her. We have gone through so many experiences together, high school, marriage, babies and now we are entering the dark side together. Can’t wait to see what’s in store. Happy Birthday, Maria!!!!
I have been told that my grammer grammar needs some improving. I’ve never claimed to be a writer, nor do I aspire to be one. This is just a light-hearted little blog and not a course in creative writing. Thanks for going to bat for me Karen and Colleen!!
If there are any pillows in these pictures that interest you, please send me an email…chances are they are still available.
This week I’ve been preparing for a vendor show in a nearby community, Palencia, in St. Augustine. As I was browsing Palencia’s website, I decided to check out their real estate listings.
I’ve got to tell you…I found my dream home. You know the… “if I win the lottery”… kind of house. I only need to win $589,000 and The Cottage Home Company will give me the keys. Here she is. Isn’t she beautiful?

Talk about move in ready. Who knew there were houses like this in my neck of the woods. I thought houses like this only existed on blogs. wink. wink. I will have to do a drive-by while I’m in Palencia.
And you can too, if you are in the area. The street festival is on Saturday from 3:00-7:00, please stop by and say hello. I would love to meet you!! You can find out more about it here. We should have perfect Fall weather…a mild 80 degrees (yes, that is our “Fall” in Florida). I will be there with my business cards and an armful of pillows for sale. Oh, and my partner in crime, Maria will be with me. Should be fun.
Have a great weekend friends….I’m off to buy some lottery tickets!
I recently came across this happy and bright cottage farmhouse designed by Lisa Kauffman Tharp. The house was built by ZeroEnergy Design. Lots of good things to look at in these pictures……
Wouldn’t you love to cook in this kitchen everyday?
Notice the sliding barn doors. mmm.mmm.mmm.
I love how she hung the lanterns from rods and the orange accents that she brought in with the chairs. Perfect.
Working in this room would make me very happy.

Have you ever come across a home in a magazine that you have looked at a million times? Well, I am guilty of that and here is the culprit: an adorable cottage in Grayton Beach, FL that was featured in the July/August 2006 issue of Cottage Living. The home belongs to the Lee family which they designed as their dream house…less than a 1/4 mile from the Gulf. In true stalker fashion, I have tried to find more pictures of this house, but have not had any luck. So if anyone knows the Lee family will you tell them that I love their house and would like to see more of it…or maybe not, that might sound creepy?
Cute kids, cute dog.
I really like that this house is decorated but not overly-decorated. It is nice that the house is clutter free yet still has a great sense of style. The dining room walls are BM Vanilla Milkshake. The chairs are from Mainly Baskets and can be purchased through me. The chandelier is from B.D.Jeffries and the table is from Tables of Distinction.
The family room is painted BM Coastal Fog and the trim is Vanilla Milkshake. The pillow fabric is Osborne and Little, but has since been dicontinued. The drapes are the textured Belgian linen drapes in flax from Restoration Hardware. The wingback chair is from Pottery Barn and the sofa is Lee Industries can be purchased through me.
I love the reclaimed hardwood floors. The kitchen is simple and pretty. Great natural light throughout the house. The kitchen is also Vanilla Milkshake and the ceiling is Woodlawn Blue.
That porch is one of my favorite things about this house. I think it would be a great place to entertain, especially with that fireplace.
What appeals to me about this house is how they use every square inch of space. It is modest in size but it looks as if they can accomodate a lot of guests. The guest room in the top, right picture is painted Gray Nut by Duron and the curtains are from Restoration Hardware.
