an e-design update
Several months ago, I showed you a dining room e-design project that I completed for my client in Utah.
This is her dining room ‘Before’
During the demolition of the walls
And this is the design board that I created for her dining room.
Here is the ‘After’. The natural light in this room is fantastic.
At the time that she contacted me, she was about to start on a full kitchen remodel. Well the kitchen turned out fabulous and she just added the finishing touches! She used the same two fabrics that I suggested for the dining room and carried them into the kitchen for her window treatments.
So pretty.
I love this office space off of the kitchen….
….and that pantry!
Love how the roman shades turned out.
If you are interested in the fabrics used for the window treatments or in my e-design services, please contact me for more information.

This week I was able to getaway for a short visit to Orlando and met up with my husband while he was there on business. One of our favorite places to visit while we are there is Celebration. If you haven’t been, Celebration is a community that was developed by who else, Disney! It is an adorable cottage community that is a must see if you are a lover of all things cottage. When Celebration was first being developed 15 years ago, the interest was so strong that they held a lottery drawing for those who were interested in living there. At the time, my husband and I tried to get one of the apartments (this was pre-kids), but with no luck. Our number wasn’t drawn.
This diner, Market Street Cafe, is our favorite spot for breakfast. Strong coffee and good omelets.
This is their Starbucks. Cute, right?
Thanks Mom for making this getaway possible!
Have a great weekend.
The Habersham community is located just outside of Charleston in the city of Beaufort, SC. This community couldn’t look any more picture perfect and the houses…..cottage details everywhere you look. You may need your Monday morning cup of coffee for this one. I must caution you, though, this may seriously have you longing for a weekend getaway. I know I sure am!
Let’s take a look at some real estate…..I may have gone on picture overload. I love the french doors with transoms and the interior doors and windows that have been trimmed. Such a simple detail that adds so much character.
I’m mean, really? This is adorable.
Could these cottages be any cuter? They also have big cottages.
Did I lose you? Are you still there?
If you would like to see more, check out the Habersham website.
Have a great day.
This low-country cottage was originally featured in Coastal Living, December 2007, as part of a special advertising section ‘Holiday Coastal Cottage’, in partnership with Kohler. This home is located in the cottage community, Palmetto Bluff, in South Carolina. I found the pictures that were in the magazine which showed the house dressed up for Christmas, however, I could not pull the pictures from the site. Did I ever tell you I am not very ‘tech savvy’? But if you follow this link, it will pull up the article from Coastal Living and show you how the house looks ready for the holidays.
This house looks a lot like the cottage from my ‘house stalking’ days.
Sorry for the small pictures and the “Kohler” border on some of the pictures. I’m not sure why it’s in some pictures and not the others???
I like the gray upper cabinets mixed with the cream cabinets…..and the tile on the wall. I love the idea of a table lamp on the counter.
Very simple base cabinets.
Those lanterns are beautiful. The built in hutch is painted a shade lighter than the cabinets in the kitchen. The table is painted the same color as the cabinets and is 12 feet long!!
I like the open floor plan of this house and the natural light that comes in from all angles.
Since this house was built as a “green house”, the designer chose classic fabrics over trendy ones so that the furniture will stand the test of time versus the homeowner growing tired of the fabrics and discarding the furniture.
This is the view from the porch looking into the sitting area in the master bedroom.
Master bathroom
This is one of the guest rooms. I really like the idea of the upholstered headboard wall, especially for a kid’s room. If you found the right inexpensive fabric, this would be an easy and inexpensive DIY project, do you think?
On both sides of the fireplace are twin-size day beds. What a great use of space.
This screened porch makes me happy!
…..these images from the cottage community Palmetto Bluff also make me happy……
Hope your Monday is happy.
Do you remember this issue of Cottage Living? It is from August 2008, and it is their annual list of best cottage communities. Love the houses on the cover!
The cottage community featured on the cover is Serenbe, in Palmetto, Georgia, which is located 30 minutes outside of Atlanta. Serenbe was founded by Steve and Marie Nygren while they were out on a Sunday drive. They were living in Atlanta and took their daughter’s out for a drive to show them rural Georgia. What started off as a weekend home, ended up becoming a bed and breakfast and then ultimately a 1,000 acre sustainable community. Serenbe, which is a combination of “serenity” and “be”, was designed in the style of an English countryside village. The community consists of an organic farm and 3 restaurants all within a work/live/shop community. The homes are a mix of architectural styles and all have front porches. Then again, what would a cottage community be without front porches, right? Here are a few photos from House Beautiful which featured Serenbe and the home of the founders, Steve and Marie.
4th of July parades get me every time.
This is the Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop.
And here are photos of the Nygren’s home.
You know I like white board and batten, but I like seeing it painted in other colors.
This kitchen is beautiful, isn’t it? Marie is considered one of Atlanta’s top chef’s and wanted a personal kitchen that was reminiscent of a European kitchen. The cabinetry is French oak.
Notice the beautiful door.
This is their private courtyard. So pretty.
Last year, they opened up a model for their “Nest Cottages” phase.
This was the only picture of the kitchen (don’t mind the people smiling at us). I love the wall of windows and the gray back door.
Anyone going to Atlanta anytime soon? Take a look at the Serenbe Inn…rates start at $230 a night….just in case your wondering!
