antiquing

Happy Groundhog Day!  So 6 more weeks of winter?  I can’t see it here in Florida.  We’ve have a very mild winter so far.  Today is 69 and beautiful.  I ran along the river this morning and it couldn’t have been prettier.  Wish I had a picture to show you.

In other “news”, I’ve been at it again, you know, hitting up the local antique stores.  Since I can’t buy everything I want, I just take pictures so I can share them with you.  But one of these little treasures did make it home with me.  Can you guess which one?

This church pew immediately got me thinking about one of our Cottage Living favorites…

and it is only $250!  That is a bargain for a solid, oak bench.

Aren’t these bikes cute?  Are there any stylists out there that need these?!?!

Sorry bad picture, I like the shape of this pretty entryway table.

This is a collection of official Navy dishes.  I think these are so cute.  They were a little pricey.

The same dealer also has a collection of brass light fixtures from old ships.  These babies are heavy!  They were not cheap either.

I really wanted this secretary but I have no where to put it.  Now you can eliminate this one (if you’re playing along).

Love this bench…needs to be painted or stained though.

Love this sweet, little light fixture.

This old market basket reminded me of the one Joni gave away last year.  It also made me think about the basket that the Polished Pebble used in her old house to store her collection of cutting boards.  Love that idea.

 Antique milk crate and bottles.

Love this collection of old tennis rackets.  We used to have some of these when I was a kid.  Wouldn’t these look great hanging on a wall in a boy’s room?

This bench needs a makeover but if you can get past the 1970′s gold velvet (unless you like that!  sorry!) and look at the shape and the caning, it would look great in a hallway or bedroom.

That’s all I’ve got for now, friends.

I would guess either the bench or entryway table…since I kind of helped myself to yours :) It did go to a good cause though Sis!

  4. Oh! Love everything! Which antique store is this? When will you share your treasure? Don’t keep us hanging too long:)

  5. Ps. Do you have any favorite shops in savannah? Would love to know!

Hi Julie, the shops that I regularly visit are The Antique Market, Avonlea Antiques and Sugar Bear Antiques….all on my side of the bridge. Are you going to Savannah? Lucky! I like to shop at Number Four Eleven, One Fish Two Fish, Circa Lighting, and The Paris Market. Thanks for saying stopping by!

      • Oh! The antique market is one of my favorites! Another one I like is southern crossings! It’s in the Avondale area! Yes! We are going to savannah for our anniversary! I love it there but felt I was missing out on some great shopping! Thanks for the ideas! Can’t wait!

Dang, they were stocked up, it would have been hard to leave all those behind! I am guessing the tall basket. or maybe a raquet or 2 for the boys rooms.

Did you take home the bench with the woven seat? The 70′s bench needs to be at the foot of my bed. Painted white, with a new cushion & pillows covered in peacock blue velvet.
The entry table would make a cute vanity in a powder room.

Some very cute stuff….love that old oak pew, beautiful. I’m gonna guess you brought home the tall basket with wheels…love that!

    Have a great weekend….

  9. I’m dying over those brass ship fixtures. I’d really love to have a pair of those. What a great store (set of stores?).
